Black Friday Alternatives: What Brands Are Doing
Black Friday is just around the corner and many of us are experiencing an inbox overload of promotions ready for the craze. The whole concept of Black Friday is wasteful and unethical, however, with brands struggling to stay afloat due to the pandemic, is there a way to turn Black Friday around? Yes! The following brands are making this Black Friday a greener and happier one!
NAZ
The movers of sustainable fashion in Portugal are turning recycled yarn into shelter for those less fortunate. When purchasing one of their cute beanies or scarves (made from surpluses of recycled yarn), 10% of their sales will go towards the NGO @just.a.change. This NGO is on a mission to rehabilitate houses of almost half a million Portuguese who live in some form of housing poverty. Help them achieve their goal of raising 500 euros for the thermal isolation of a roof!
SIZ
Slowing down is the real essence of this Portuguese brand and they understand what it means to increase the longevity of garments. SIZ has teamed up with @whitestamp so that you can trade in your old clothes to buy new ones. If your wardrobe is full of pieces you no longer wear, send them to @white_stamp to find out what they’re worth and discount them on your new SIZ purchase. This is a new scheme in Portugal and many great sustainable brands are joining the movement.
Maria Maleta
This Black Friday two best friends and founds of Maria Maleta, Ana and Daniela, are sending love! They believe sending love via a thoughtful postcard is the most important thing during this time. You can request a postcard to be sent to your very own best friend or loved one. Friends are never apart, maybe in distance but never with a postcard.
